Residents along the Gulf Coast are being urged to prepare as Hurricane Isaias moves toward the United States.
Isaias has strengthened into the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season and is expected to bring dangerous conditions to portions of the Florida Panhandle, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Hurricane, tropical storm, and storm surge watches have been issued across portions of the northern Gulf Coast.
Florida and Alabama have declared states of emergency in areas expected to be impacted by the storm.
Forecasters warn that Isaias could bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, flooding, dangerous storm surge and possible tornadoes as it approaches the coast.
Some areas could receive several inches of rain, increasing the risk of flash flooding. Residents should also prepare for the possibility of downed trees, power outages and travel disruptions.
Officials encourage residents to secure outdoor belongings, charge electronic devices, prepare emergency supplies, and follow evacuation instructions if issued.
Please remember: never attempt to drive through flooded roads. It does not take much moving water to sweep away a vehicle.
