Tyler Perry has another number one movie on his hands.
His latest film, Doing Life, climbed to the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s U.S. movie chart just days after its October 2 premiere.
The drama follows Anika, a struggling single mother, and Carousel, a formerly incarcerated man looking for a second chance. The two form an unexpected bond as they navigate redemption, love and the challenges of rebuilding their lives.
The movie stars Naomi Baker and Jay Reeves, along with Tamberla Perry, Karen Obilom, Jasmine Sargent, Danielle Moné Truitt and A Different World breakout star Cornell Young IV.
Perry has said the film was inspired by stories of people trying to move forward after difficult circumstances and focuses heavily on second chances and unexpected love.
The No. 1 ranking comes during another major chapter in Tyler’s life.
He recently announced plans to relocate to Puerto Rico with his son, Aman, in 2027 while significantly scaling back his workload to spend more time with family.
He has also listed his Beverly Hills mansion and Wyoming property for a combined asking price of roughly $96 million.
But even as Tyler prepares to slow down, his movies clearly are not.
Congratulations to Tyler Perry on another Netflix No. 1!
