Gentlemen, apparently leg day is getting a lot more serious.
A growing fitness trend called “glutemaxxing” has more men putting extra focus on building bigger, stronger and more defined glutes.
For years, the stereotypical male gym routine focused heavily on the chest, arms and abs. Now, squats, hip thrusts, lunges and other glute exercises are becoming a much bigger part of the conversation.
And social media is helping fuel the trend.
A Planet Fitness survey earlier this year showed just how important glutes have become to younger adults. Seventy percent of Gen Z respondents said they feel more confident when they believe their butt looks good, while 60% admitted they have noticed someone’s butt before their face.
But some men are going beyond the gym.
Plastic surgeons say they are seeing growing interest from men asking about cosmetic procedures designed to create a fuller, more athletic-looking backside.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, male Brazilian butt lifts increased 48% from 2024 to 2025, although the actual number remained relatively small compared with procedures performed on women.
Some doctors are also receiving questions about fat grafting and injectable treatments designed to add volume.
So apparently men have officially discovered what women have known forever: Everybody notices the booty.
