President Donald Trump got plenty of attention over the weekend after making a very personal comment about Nicki Minaj during a campaign rally in Michigan.
Nicki joined Trump at a rally in Port Huron on Sunday as he campaigned for Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers ahead of the midterm elections.
While speaking to the crowd, Trump shifted from discussing Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s athletic background to commenting on Nicki’s appearance.
Trump complimented Nicki’s backside, calling it beautiful and telling the crowd that it was “hard to miss.”
He then asked Nicki to stand up.
Nicki stood, smiled and waved to the cheering crowd.
Trump quickly acknowledged that he had gone off topic and said he hoped Nicki was not offended by his comments before adding that he and his supporters “love Nicki.”
The rapper has become increasingly visible alongside Trump and his political allies and even traveled with the president aboard Air Force One ahead of the Michigan event.
At the rally, Nicki also reiterated her support for Trump and told the crowd that she intends to continue standing with him.
The president’s remarks about her appearance quickly spread online, with some people treating the moment as humorous while others questioned whether comments about a woman’s body were appropriate during a political rally.
Nicki has not publicly indicated that she was offended by the comments.
