Reba McEntire is hinting at a new chapter underway.
The legendary country star shared a clip on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon (April 14). She said she’s “got something very exciting to play for y’all… Listen to this.” McEntire went on to play a sneak peek of an unreleased song called “One Night In Tulsa”: “And I’d ride a buck wild mustang/ Bareback with no reins/ I’d take a barefoot walk across Arkansas.”
“I’m so excited about (the song). That’s my new single called ‘One Night In Tulsa,’ which may be coming out pretty soon,” McEntire said. “More details to follow, so stay tuned!”
McEntire announced on Wednesday (April 15) that “One Night in Tulsa” will release on Friday (April 17). “I am so excited for you to hear this one!”
To mark 50 years as a country artist, McEntire will release “music capsules each month, thematically curated songs from throughout her career paired with brand new recordings that spotlight the road ahead for the iconic entertainer,” states a press release issued Wednesday. “One Night In Tulsa” is the first release,” which McEntire previewed during a special performance on April 9 at Reba's Place, the restaurant she opened in Atoka, Oklahoma.
Neal Coty, Kylie Frey and Thom McHugh teamed up to write “One Night In Tulsa,” a song that “marks a return to the ’90s country ballads that cemented McEntire’s place as one of the genre’s most definitive voices of heartbreak.” In addition to “One Night In Tulsa,” the Oklahoma-born country legend will release “Tulsa Time,” “Oklahoma Swing,” “Does The Wind Still Blow In Oklahoma,” and “No U In Oklahoma,” according to the press release.
New music from McEntire will follow “Trailblazer,” a collaboration with Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert. The trio delivered the world premiere performance of the song at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards on May 2025. McEntire released “Trailblazer (Dream Chaser Version)” earlier this year, featuring Brandy Clark and Lukas Nelson. The three artists performed the reimagined, acoustic version during a moving In Memoriam tribute at the 2026 Grammy Awards. McEntire produced “Trailblazer” with legendary producer Tony Brown. Lambert, Wilson and Clark wrote the song, paying tribute to the women in country who blazed trails for other artists (including Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and more).
